Markets Overview Guide

Markets Overview provides real-time market updates with helpful tools that empower you to review charts over time. Watch the video below for a walkthrough of the Marekts Overview Page:

Market News Ticker

At the top of the page, you will find your market news ticker which will automatically scroll throughout the day. Select View All to see a more detailed view of the events within the news ticker. These events include:

  • The Morning Update
  • Daily Market Wrap
  • Stock Updates
  • Treasury Auction Results
  • Fed Speakers
  • Mortgage, Housing, and Employment Reports

Coupons

Next, you will see three tiles that show the live trading for mortgage-backed securities, the 10-year treasury and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF. You can highlight a specific coupon in the candlestick chart below by clicking on its corresponding tile. To view additional coupons simply click Show more coupons and to view more treasuries, click Show more treasuries

Candlestick Chart

The candlestick chart provides four different daily moving averages listed at the top left of the chart, which are 200 DMA, 100 DMA, 50 DMA, and 25 DMA. You can toggle them on or off by clicking on their corresponding checkbox (see below).

Click on any candlestick in the chart to display data for that particular day and use your cursor to drag in any part of the chart to zoom into a specific area. Use the sliders at the bottom of the page to zoom in or out or change the portion of the chart you wish to view.

Below the charts, you will also see options to change the duration of the chart (intraday, last month, last quarter, six months, one year, two years, year to date and max data).

Stochastic Oscillator

The stochastic oscillator at the bottom of the page is a momentum indicator. This chart compares the security's closing price to the range of its prices over the previous 21 sessions, assigning a value in the range of 0%-100%. A reading below 20%, indicated by the red line, is said to be "oversold." A reading above 80%, indicated by the green line, is said to be "overbought."

The black line crossing above the purple line while in oversold territory indicates a positive stochastic crossover. When this occurs, you may see a corresponding move higher in the security’s price from the date of that positive stochastic crossover.

If the black line crosses below the purple line while in overbought territory, it is considered a negative stochastic crossover. You may see a corresponding move lower in the security’s price.

Candlestick Chart Filters

There are several filter options you can use for the candlestick chart. First, click on the Filters button (see image below).

From here, you can use the toggles to:

  • Turn support and resistance levels on or off.
